Sustainability is not just a goal, but a way of being in the world, doing business, and imagining the future.
SI TO SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability is not just a goal, but a way of being in the world, doing business, and imagining the future.
So that equality, inclusion and respect for human rights are the basis for equitable and shared well-being.
Value and vision
For Servizi Italia, social sustainability is measured by how we take care of people: inside and outside the company. We believe that well-being, health, safety, and the enhancement of skills are the foundation for building a solid, inclusive, and future-oriented company.
Relationships with communities
We are present in the local area not only with our services, but also with actions of social value. We participate in local projects, collaborate with institutions, and promote dialogue with those who live alongside us. Because a good company is also one that gives back value to its community.
Concrete actions
In 2024, we strengthened our commitment with concrete projects: over 28,000 hours of training, work-life balance programs certified by Family Audit, initiatives against harassment, and for a more open and respectful internal climate. Our workers are not just numbers, but people with whom we share a common path of growth.
Santa Gemma Project
Disability is the result of the interaction between the physical/social environment and the individual with his or her unique and peculiar characteristics: if the environment acts as a facilitator (and not as an obstacle), each of us can grow and realize our full potential. This is the principle on which the Santa Gemma project, promoted by Servizi Italia in its plant in Lastra a Signa (Florence), is based. Within the laundry, people with cognitive disabilities have been hired to work in non-secondary positions.
An opportunity for social, work and professional integration that allowed these boys and girls to build their own life project.
But there is more: this path of inclusion is also intertwined with the themes of environmental sustainability and the circular economy. Thanks, in fact, to the Santa Gemma Project – now to all intents and purposes a work and home training centre – materials that in the past would have simply been disposed of can be recovered and reused for new applications.
A company open to the local community
Servizi Italia took part in the “Imprese Aperte” (Open Companies) project promoted by the city of Parma, opening the doors of its factory in Castellina (PR) to employees’ families, students, and citizens with the aim of explaining the role of the company in the local social fabric and sharing the value of work and innovation as a place of cultural production and a social actor in the local community.
We support Sea The Change
Servizi Italia is supporting “Fishing for Litter“, an active project involving the recovery of plastic in the Adriatic Sea through the involvement of local fishermen who will carry out ad hoc outings to collect litter from the sea.
The laundry at the Port of Genoa
We told a piece of the city’s history through the voices of those who lived it.
The history of the harbor laundry
began in the 1930s and has developed through the major changes
that the port area has experienced over the
course of nearly 100 years.

Donation of textiles to third sector organizations
The Group continued to support associations, non-profit organizations, and social promotion initiatives by donating textiles and h s for use in welfare and solidarity activities, in line with its corporate values and Code of Ethics.
Youth sports associations
For many years now, Servizi Italia has been supporting local charitable events (e.g., fundraising for non-profit organizations) and sports clubs committed to social inclusion and promoting sports among children and disadvantaged people.
Scientific dissemination
Servizi Italia continues to support scientific dissemination in the healthcare field by sponsoring events, conferences, and specialist congresses, often in collaboration with trade associations and organizations involved in clinical risk management.
Dialogue with schools and universities
ties with the world of education have been further strengthened through the launch of new partnerships with schools and universities, aimed at promoting career guidance and professional integration. The company recognizes the importance of accompanying the younger generation in discovering the world of production and sustainability applied to the healthcare and industrial sectors.
Constant dialogue with the community
We are committed to constant dialogue with the community through corporate pages on LinkedIn, Facebook Instagram and YouTube, through articles published monthly on the corporate blog and periodically in trade magazines, local and business newspapers.
Relations with trade associations
We actively participate in the trade association Assosistema, which aims to protect, disseminate and improve the activities of the integrated health care services sector. We join the National Bilateral Body with the aim of encouraging and promoting research on the issues of corporate social responsibility and occupational health and safety.
Social sustainability also means actions aimed at improving the quality of life of those who work within the company every day: find out how Servizi Italia takes care of its team.
So that the responsible and conscious use of resources is the key to giving future generations the chance to live in a world still full of opportunities.
A commitment that is good for the environment
At Servizi Italia, environmental sustainability is an integral part of how we operate. We manage complex processes, from sterilization to industrial laundry, with a constant focus on efficiency and respect for the environment. The goal is to reduce the environmental impact of our activities by investing in technology, optimizing the use of resources, and promoting virtuous behavior throughout the organization.
Energy efficiency and renewable sources
To reduce energy consumption and increase the efficiency of our facilities, we have implemented a structured plan of action at various sites in Italy. The measures implemented include the installation of technologically advanced, interconnected meters at the main consumption centers, the replacement of boilers and compressors with high-efficiency models, the elimination of coal from the energy sources used, and the adoption of new-generation LED lighting systems.
At the same time, we periodically carry out comparative analyses of the specific consumption of the various energy sources used, including natural gas, thermal energy, diesel fuel, and, at our Brazilian sites, eucalyptus wood.
In 2024, 82% of the electricity purchased by Servizi Italia for its Italian plants will come from renewable sources. In addition, we have installed new photovoltaic systems at the sites of Genova Bolzaneto, Montecchio, Travagliato, and Pavia, for a total power of 370 kWp.
Atmospheric emissions and GHG
We are committed to continuously monitoring and reducing the quantity and quality of emissions generated by our production activities. At our Italian sites, steam generators are powered by natural gas, while at our Brazilian sites, eucalyptus wood from sustainable supply chains is used. In both cases, the plants are equipped with abatement systems to reduce ash and particulate matter and are subject to regular analysis, adjustment, and calibration.
With regard to climate-changing emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2), the Group carries out constant monitoring, closely linked to direct and indirect energy consumption. The goal is to progressively reduce emissions per unit of product served through continuous improvement in energy efficiency and the adoption of technological solutions with a lower environmental impact.
Responsible use of water
The supply and use of water in our production processes is a particularly important environmental issue, given the nature of the services we provide. For this reason, we adopt an approach based on maximum efficiency and water recovery through the installation of dedicated technological systems and the continuous optimization of washing cycles.
In 2024, we completed the installation of an ultrafiltration plant at the Castellina (PR) site, aimed at recovering process wastewater. At the same time, the Maxlav plant’s wastewater treatment system in Brazil is being upgraded with the aim of improving its environmental performance by the first half of 2025.
All Group plants are equipped with internal wastewater treatment systems, which ensure that discharges comply with the limits set by current legislation. Effluent quality is monitored systematically, both through internal analyses and with the support of qualified external laboratories.
Sustainable materials and chemicals
For packaging and distribution, we use thin shrink films containing recycled plastic, with the aim of reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials. We also promote the recovery of paper and plastic packaging generated throughout the production chain, favoring solutions that facilitate separate collection and recycling.
The chemicals used in washing, sanitizing, and reconditioning cycles are selected based on safety and low environmental impact criteria. All detergents used at comply with current regulations and, where possible, adhere to the requirements of the Ecolabel Regulation.
In 2024, we promoted the adoption of reusable medical devices and personal protective equipment, including the new full-body gown certified as PPE and Medical Device, developed to extend the product’s life cycle and reduce the production of single-use waste.
Waste and industrial symbiosis
We manage special waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, produced during the operating cycle in a traceable and digitized manner, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and the efficiency of information flows. Where possible, our approach favors recovery operations over disposal, in line with the principles of the circular economy.
In 2024, we launched specific industrial symbiosis projects aimed at valorizing textile waste, promoting its reuse in other production cycles and thus contributing to the reduction of the overall environmental impact.
We believe that solid, responsible, and transparent governance is a strategic lever for generating long-term value, not only for the company but also for all the stakeholders we interact with every day.
Innovation and sustainability to drive change
In recent years, we have strengthened our corporate governance system by increasingly integrating innovation and sustainability: innovation as a driver of transformation towards more efficient and digitized models; sustainability as a strategic horizon that informs all our decisions, not as an isolated element.
Today more than ever, these two pillars continue to guide our commitment to:
Our governance structure is based on a Board of Directors with clearly defined roles and functions, internal committees with guidance and control functions, and an updated Model 231, supplemented by a Code of Ethics, Anti-Corruption Policy, and whistleblowing systems, to ensure full compliance with the principles of legality, transparency, and accountability.
